22nd November. This page is under construction, sorry for all the mess. The screening information is correct.
Sierra Leone, along with the rest of Africa, is one of the countries likely to suffer the effects of climate change the most. The global launch in September 2009 wasa great success and really helped to raise the awareness of the issues with the local people.
The screening in Sierre Leone was held in the One World Centre in Bo but the really amazing thing about the screening is that the money for the Centre was actually raised by members of the One World Link group in Warwick, England. There is more information about the OWL centre on their website here.
The screening was a great success. And the organiser, Alfred Maada Fobay, did a lot of work to publicise the screening, including an interview on local FM Radio.
The following email was the one we received from Maada the day after the screening;
Ben,
Receive my Picture - Alfred Maada Fobay addressing the audience during the Screening - Age of Stupid at One World Link, Bo Sierra Leone.
The public here is so keen for me to go into advocacy - by screening the film all over the country. Perhaps screening arrangment for Parliament and Ministers here. You have to seek funding partners for advocacy.
Everybody feel amazing and worry about the future. We all agreed to also COMPLAIN TO SUPER WHOLE POWERS THAT YOU HAVE TROUBLE US and therefore minimise and later stop the nuclear and high technology.
Thanks
It was a great event here.
Maada
